Universal Cut and Hold Distal End Cutter

The Universal Cut and Hold Distal End Cutter is an orthodontic wire cutter designed for intraoral use at archwire placement and adjustment appointments. Its defining function is the cut-and-hold mechanism: after the wire is cut flush distal to the buccal tube or last bracket, the instrument retains the cut segment between its working tips so the trimmed piece does not spring free and fall into the patient’s mouth, eliminating an aspiration and ingestion hazard. The cutter handles all standard archwire gauges from .012″ (.30 mm) up to .021″ x .025″ (.53 mm x .64 mm), covering round and rectangular stainless steel and NiTi wires across all treatment phases.
