Spade Luxator Right

Spade Luxator Right is a spade-bladed dental luxation instrument used to sever the periodontal ligament (PDL) ahead of tooth extraction, built around a flat, wider blade profile than the narrower Luxator periotome line. This right pattern is shaped for mandibular molars and retained root tips on the right side of the lower arch, where the angled blade is needed to approach the tooth from the correct side without obstructing the clinician’s view. The spade blade inserts along the right-angled approach into the periodontal ligament space, applying steady apical pressure to cut PDL fibers along the root surface and progressively loosen the tooth before elevation or forceps removal. Cutting the ligament first, rather than relying on the blade to pry the tooth loose, reduces the leverage force needed at the extraction step that follows and helps protect the surrounding alveolar bone and soft tissue from the trauma that comes with forcing an intact ligament. This pattern is generally used alongside the other angulations in the Spade Luxator family, since no single angle reaches every surface of every socket across the upper and lower arches.
